Many couples today are opting for wedding cruises instead of ceremonies in churches. To capitalize on this, many cruise lines now offer honeymoon and wedding packages for those couples that want to tie the not with an added element of romance. Now planning the wedding involves locating the ideal wedding cruise to go on.
A popular wedding cruise is the Disney Cruise Line weddings. The wedding is paid for in addition to the normal cruise line pricing. The ceremony can be held in any of the ships lounges or on board on one of the special sun decks. After the wedding ceremony, the reception provides the guests with an ample supply of wedding cake and champagne. The costs for this type of wedding are generally less than $2,000.
The Disney wedding cruise also provides another option that will allow you to get married at Castaway Cay, one of Disney's private Islands in the Bahamas. If this option is chosen, Disney will transport the bride ahead of time to the site of the wedding. The reception would still be held back on the ship. The actual legal ceremony, no matter which option is chosen, will be held before the couple even boards the ship.
Carnival also offers them to Nassau Bahamas, and depending on the amenities and the number of guests that attend the ceremony, the price can run between $1,000 - $2,000. Amenities range from a basic Bahamas ceremony, a welcome aboard package and a deluxe romance package.
The most common package seems to be the Welcome Aboard package, which includes a reception lasting 1 hour, sparkling wine, hors d'oeuvres and wedding cake for all guests. They even supply the photographer.
Some of the Royal Caribbean cruises offer an option of a wedding, but not all of their cruises. It needs to be in Bahama's waters 24 hours prior to the arrival in Nassau and the beginning of the wedding. Prices here typically range from $1,500 - $2,000. One key note for the Royal Caribbean cruises is that the legal ceremony does take place on the actual island and all arrangements can be made with the on board wedding coordinator.
When choosing your cruise, keep in mind the honeymoon aspect as well. Make sure your destination will provide romantic and enjoyable views of the Bahamas. Once said and done, you will enjoy all aspects of a wedding cruise and honeymoon.
